5 lessons from the English premier league openers

It is no longer news the English premier league has resumed for the 2015/2016 season with most of the teams having played their first match of the term (Manchester City play West Brom Monday) here are some of the lessons learnt from some of the matches watched.

Arsenal aren't yet the finished product- a lot has been said about how this will be the year of Arsenal especially after last weekend's resilient 1-0 triumph over Chelsea in the FA Community shield at Wembley.

Just six days after, the gunners found themselves at the mercy of Slaven Bilic led West Ham side that showed many of the traditional large team would discover that it's hard getting the better of his team.

Losing 2-0 at the Emirates, in the very first match of the season and against West Ham will definitely bring up questions concerning this team's willingness to ultimately secure their first league title since 2004.

As Thierry Henry mentioned at the end of last term and again recently, gunners require a lethal striker (who is different from Olivier Giroud) to have a really purposeful season, most folks would concur after a woeful functionality type the north London's attacking force at home.

Chelsea still 'winner stuff'- same old Chelsea some might say, the performance against Swansea was classic Blues. Surviving for over 65 minutes with 10 guys (at some point it was nine) was testament to the fact this team was established for grinding out results.
